Would be a nice relief if the rumors about chapter 4 being released late are true as taking a full account of characters through a campaign in 6 months is a rush.
As a lot of you will already know there are 2 different teams that work on GW. Prophecies and Nightfall by one, Factions and Chapter 4 by another. Now, factions was delayed and took a year to appear after prophecies. I think its quite likely that chapter 4 will be delayed too as its the same team. Also they'll be more careful with this chapter after the complaints about factions and might take longer to make sure its perfect.

she also called the late 07 NCsoft release date a sock of air
note
they now have an established player base and no longer need to put a play me code in every magazine begging people to try it.
since they are stil selling Nightfall why should they get players who are buying Nightfall excited enough about chapter 4 so they skip buying Nightfall?
*wow does chapter 4 sound great. i will wait for that instead of getting Nightfall now*
it makes economic sence to wait til the last minute now instead of giving things away in advance to advertise it the way they HAD to at first

lets get rid of more misinformation.
each chapter gets one full year.
Factions took a year to put out because the team started as soon as GW was released.
NIGHTFALL got a full year as well.
they started in October of 05 six months after the release of Factions.
AFTER ONE FULL YEAR FROM OCTOBER 05 IT WAS RELEASED IN OCTOBER 06
chapter 4 started with the release of FACTIONS on April 27 06 and one full year will be April of 07

Well, let's see...
I have 10 characters -- 11 if you count my perma-pre. Most of my characters have finished Prophecies and Factions. Four of them have finished Nightfall. I'm tired of pushing chatracters through the same old missions and quests, be they Chapter 1, 2, or 3. I want some new content to play with. This past weekend was loads of fun, but now it's gone. I logged in Monday and almost logged right back out again.
If they want to delay the game, fine, delay it. Just let us know. The game has been in development for almost 10 months now. Surely they have something to give us by now.
After Prophecies, they set an expectation of a new chapter every six months. With factions, and Nightfall, they set a precedent in regards to how they put out information, arrange preorders, and have a pre-release package. With Chapter 4, they've deviated from the pattern. Four months after Nightfall -- two months from when we would expect the next chapter to arrive -- there's nothing out there.
With Factions, and Nightfall, there were magazine articles, pre-release info, and even some leaked screenshots by this time in the cycle.
Our alliance of four guilds now has my guild, two dead guilds, and one barely limping along. Most people have either gone back to WoW, or started playing new games -- because they have new content (or content new to them). I can't really blame them. Why should they stick around?

^qft Cpt Sarcastic's entire post
each of these retread event weekends just delays the inevitable. I'll also agree that pushing every single character through each title seriously gets boring. Gotta take my 10 characters through 3 games = 30 reruns. Seriously no fun. Now if they don't innovate, and it's 12 characters through 4 games, 48 reruns is just a waste of time.
But digressing, we sure haven't been hearing much from Gaile the last few weeks except correcting event miscommunications. Is she an intern?

Here are just a few articles to help you decide if Vista is right for you. I encourage everyone to research this info before buying and installing Vista on their machine.
http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/%7Epgut...ista_cost.html
and episode 74 from HERE
Vistas Fine Print
And this one HERE
After doing the research I have decided that I will NEVER install Vista on any computer.

This was a tempting pun to use, but lets not use it again .
Seriously, what do you think is needed for many players to return and come for the 1st time? Many things obviously, but what is the primary need?

Hmmm... I think a better question would be, "What's needed to keep them from leaving"?
To answer your question, though...
It depends. The longer we have to wait, the better Chapter 4 will have to be to pull them away from their WoW, L2, and whatever shiny new accounts to new games they've acquired during A-net's lapse.

this might seem a little harsh, but I think this sums it up for me:
Anet needs to stop rushing out incomplete games with half-baked central themes, and considering them works in progress for 6 months, subject to constant unpredictable nerfs and changes, until it's time for the next one, leaving most of the worst features broken

I think to answer my question, at least from a primary PvE standpoint because I don't have enough time to pvp, Anet needs more character developement, it greatly enchances the connection players have to the game.
Plus, new character developement ideas could lead to possible gold sinks which is always good, and it'll definetly keep many players interested until the next chapter release, where much more people will buy the game. Win-win situation, Anet profits, as what they are supposed to do as a bussiness, and the players have fun .

This is still a lot of speculation but this will give the players another voice in why we do not like the 6 month release scheduled.
After factions everyone was yelling TOO SOON!!!! We just got 2 new classes that we haven't figured out. Once we figure something out with the rit it gets completely destroyed and scraped for 8 months in pvp play.
The assassin could only fit in gank teams and still has a very hard time fitting into a large based team.
I hope they do slow down the schedule not for any other reason than balance. Prophecies was the best time in GW for 1 reason. We had an entire year to get the balance right. Its been out of wack ever since the new expansions were introduced. We still have many balance problems to day.
You cannot introduce 400+ skill every 6 months. You have to have something that limit the number of skills that can be used. Please Anet learn from your mentor MTG and put in restrictions and bans instead of just "balancing" a skill till its completely useless in all formats of the game.
GW has been a sinking ship for quite some time no matter how Anet tries to spin it. Less and less people purchased nightfalls and factions than prophecies. If it was good new Anet would been waving a victory banner bragging about how many sells they have. Instead we get "well...nightfalls is still selling." If there was a very positive thing to say about their sales it would have been plastered everywhere by now. Who cares if what they say to use tells their competition. Maybe then the players playing those other games might actually take notice in GW instead only knowing "Nerfnet."
